Two Years Ago...

Meg's beautiful smile in the morning. Those aren't her two year molars yet, it's her blueberry waffle that you see.

Hannah usually cracks herself up more then she cracks up her mom at meal time.

A beautiful, smart, talented, funny, thoughtful, loving and sweet gal gave birth to the most precious set of twins. You might ask how I know all of this information. It wasn't written on the referral paperwork we received two years ago in April. It is written all over the faces of my little girls. I know parents often have a skewed view of their children but I also think parents know their children the best too. My heart breaks for the mother I share my girls with. She doesn't get to see their beautiful little smiles in the morning or hear their chatter on the monitor as they wake up. She is missing every goofy song they sing, dance they dance and laugh they give. They aren't copying her funny little sayings, or learning the names of her relatives. How her heart must break especially on the anniversary of their birth.

While I now have a taste of what it is like to carry and birth a child. I haven't a CLUE what the pain of relinquishment feels like, or living every day after it. My heart breaks for all that she had to give up. I am eternally grateful for her sacrifice, for her love for the girls, for giving them life, and for sharing them with all of us. I hope one day we'll all get to meet her and begin to thank her for the gift she gave us two years ago.

We go to see the doctor next week for our 2 year check ups. We'll find out how much taller Meg really is.

But for now you will have to settle on the ramblings of their professional mother who loves to go on and on about her two little two year olds. Both of them have just recently begun a growth spurt. It is so visible that Charlie will walk in for dinner and exclaim how much taller they are then the night before. Not only are their physical appearances changing but so are their minds, hearts, their sense of humor, and their dramatic side (well, I think that goes along with turning two.)

Megan...still passionately LOVES books. Almost more then her daddy whom she sticks to like velcro. She loves to shop for shoes and visit any store that has a lego table. Between reading books, she is always requesting some of her favorite foods like: grilled cheese, mac and cheese, oranges, bananas, salad, green beans and the list goes on. I haven't found a food she doesn't like but she still loves fruits and veggies the most, for which I am very thankful. Although, chocolate is mentioned quite frequently too. She has given up on potty training but she loves to cheer for Hannah and mommy when we go on the potty. She can count to ten and I will often hear her signing her abc's very clearly. She loves shapes, colors, numbers, letters, puzzles, balls, school buses, mail trucks, singing and her baby Kate.

Hannah...still enjoys reading but has other passions. She is a lot more physical. Loves to jump around, spin, and run. She loves to kick her soccer ball from Uncle Wes, throw any type of ball, build with her Lego's and do puzzles. She loves to give "BIG HUGS", kiss her sisters, sit on your lap and just wrestle with daddy. Hannah is extremely good at squeezing out the tiniest bit of pee on the potty to get chocolate. Counting to ten and pointing out the first letters of words are Hannah's forte. She is a great singer and can finish any line to any song she has ever heard before. She keeps us all in line with her ability to mother and take charge. I often wonder if given the chance, she would have pushed her way out first. Instead of being take out second. She is very into dressing herself and usually does a great job. Sometimes her legs end up going where her arms are suppose to go and other times the socks end up on the hands instead of her feet.

Both girls love to be outside playing, sledding or just walking to grandma's. They love to eat at Culver's and go to story time every Monday with Daddy. They both recently moved into their toddler beds and love to get into bed every night after stories with dad. Getting the mail is still the highlight to most of their days, so drop them a line sometime via snail mail. Dress up has also become part of our days, jewelry mostly but sometimes it's hats, shoes, jewelry and capes too.

Hannah and Megan keep us on our toes. They provide sunshine to any day, warm to our evenings, joy to our hearts, laughter to our lips, accountability for our speech, and many hugs and kisses through out the day. Thank you, Father, for these precious little lives. They are ours for just a little while and Yours eternally. We can't wait to see what you have in store for them this next year, or what's in store for us!
Megan kissing Kate.
Megan's effort at bringing back the 80's style leggings. Something her mom would have probably worn but this piece works better as a shirt then pants.
Who says "jeans and heels are out?" Hannah can still carry it off, when she isn't falling out of them.

HI Lindsey, Nice to see an update, the girls are growing so fast. I only see them once in awhile at church & this catches me up on their cuteness. Maybe we'll see you again on mondays at culvers soon.
